Women are now proving they are powerful when they stick together and are unafraid to speak truth to power… unafraid to stand arm in arm with EVERY American and find a way forward together. Here’s a terrible fact—

There has not been a single woman who has won the Golden Globe for Best Director since I was fortunate enough to win it for Yentl in 1984…that’s 34 years ago!    Not right!

More women should be directing!

In my humble opinion, I was very disappointed that director Dee Rees and her powerful film Mudbound wasn’t even nominated.

I also would have liked to see director Patty Jenkins and her exciting film Wonder Woman be recognized

It’s a natural quality for women to nurture, and we should hold on to that generosity of spirit.

At the Women in Film luncheon in 1992, I spoke about the skewed perception of women in relation to men. I shared my thoughts on how language gave us an insight into the way women were viewed in a male-dominated society:

A man is commanding—a woman is demanding.

A man is forceful—a woman

What happened to make Donald Trump so reflexively cruel?

Henry Kissinger once pondered a question about President Richard Nixon, “Can you imagine what this man would have been like if somebody had loved him?” This brings up the debate about the role of nature and nurture in the development of one’s personality and makes one wonder about Donald Trump. Why is he so insecure that he has to lie at every occasion about

It’s kindness and empathy that will make America greater, Mr. Trump.

I’ve said this before, but I’m saying this again. Trump is a walking, talking illustration of what psychologists call “the disowned self,” a person who refuses to recognize his own flaws and instead projects them onto others. There’s no reason you couldn’t do the Republican vice-presidential search as a reality show. Donald Trump is good at that stuff. Plus it’s more than two months until the convention, and I believe that many members of his party would welcome a diversion.

The Republican Party’s trek into the darkness took a fateful step in Indiana on Tuesday.

The Hoosier State delivered an all-but-crowning victory to Donald Trump, who beat Ted Cruz soundly in the state, sweeping up at least 51 delegates. On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders won an unexpected victory over Hillary Clinton, though it was not enough to halt her march to the nomination.

REPUBLICANS have often been indignant at being portrayed as waging a “war on women,” and the rhetoric sometimes was, indeed, a bit over the top. Until Donald Trump showed up.

Trump seems to be trying a strategy of what Ted Cruz would call “carpet bombing,” insulting Carly Fiorina’s face, Megyn Kelly’s menstrual cycle, Heidi Cruz’s looks and now Hillary Clinton’s “woman’s card.”

Haahaa…. If my sweet wife and I can ever get out of bed
(somedays it’s noon)… I have long planned to paper our vintage barn’s
outhouse walls, with these excremental egested rag articles that are
void of even a sniff of truth. Of course, she has held me back with
her gift for perfect decor. But I still say my idea is more
authentic,… Haahaa. Right?

Hillary and Bill Clinton have been friends now since I first
met them … Read more »

I asked my wife if I could borrow her Truth Alert to respond to the latest tabloid nonsense, an outrageous story that I oppose her doing “Gypsy.” These scandal sheet guys only print stuff that is the exact opposite of the truth. I’m already lined up to buy the first ticket for that film. Her youthful beauty will perfectly complement her singing and performance. But the point here is that tabloids only traffic in bad news, bad news that they … Read more »

I was just made aware of a ridiculous story in one of those weekly rags. This is just to say that the story is untrue in every respect, just unmitigated, sloppy, and malicious invention.  The madness of the constant inaccuracy of these publications is evidenced by the fact that in this recent story the main photo they use of “Jason” is not even Jason!Read more »

I’ve endured Larry Kramer’s outbursts in the past, not wishing to dignify them with a response. But at a time when we are all pulling together to achieve such giant steps toward gay equality, it is anguishing to me to have my devotion to this cause so distorted. I think my efforts for the gay community and my immersion in securing its constitutional entitlement and other equitable rights is quite evident and a matter of record.

During the time we … Read more »

I was happy to hear recently that the Loew’s Kings Theater in Brooklyn, New York will be undergoing renovations for a reopening in 2014 . It was one of those beautiful old movie palaces of the past. I was 13 years old when I first started spending many a wonderful afternoon there, partly because it had double features, air conditioning and great ice cream cones.

I’d like to set the record straight on one point. Some articles have said that … Read more »

To clarify the ridiculous assertions relating to Barbra Streisand’s participation in the new “We Are The World,” the recording of which I attended with her, Barbra hit it on her first take, but then asked Patti Austin, who was producing the vocal session, if she could do a few more to see what else she might come up with. Patti thought the first take was perfect, and she thought the fourth one was more perfect. They stopped at “more perfect.” … Read more »

Thank you New York Times for including Barbra in your article ‘How 10 stars Fared as Actor-Directors’

Barbra Streisand

The movies: “Yentl,” from 1983; “The Prince of Tides,” from 1991; and “The Mirror Has Two Faces,” from 1996.

The verdict:

Very good. All three movies garnered multiple Oscar nominations. Ms. Streisand wasn’t nominated for a directing Oscar for “The Prince of Tides,” which received seven nominations in all, an omission that Read more »

By Howard Cohen – Miami Herald.

Barbra Streisand gushed more than once that Monday’s concert at downtown Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena, the closing date of her 13-concert “The Music…The Mem’ries…The Magic! Tour,” was to be her last concert.

She never grandstanded the statement or milked it for melancholy. She said it with what sounded like gratitude — a theme she would return to often during the two-plus-hour, 26-song set. This was the longest show of the tour, which was fitting since … Read more »

By Jay Cridlin – Tampa Bay Times.

Each note brought sighs of reverie, each lovelorn lyric oohs and ahhs and applause.

All Barbra Streisand had to do was smile and sing, and the sold-out crowd at Tampa’s Amalie Arena was a big bowl of buttah in her palms.

“I’ve never been here, never been to Tampa-St. Pete,” Babs admitted Wednesday night, as if the nearly 12,000 fans in attendance didn’t know.

This was Stresiand’s first local concert after a half … Read more »

By Joey Guerra – The Houston Chronicle

Barbra Streisand leaves little room for error when she’s onstage.

Her Sunday night show at Toyota Center was an exercise in perfectionism. Tasteful tea sets sat on tables. Flowers were tastefully arranged. A waitress in a black apron refreshed the tea during intermission.

Streisand herself clicked on an electric candle during the introduction to “Papa, Can You Hear Me?” from “Yentl.”

A large teleprompter hung above the audience halfway across the floor. Every … Read more »
