Bethesda, Maryland – May 15, 2018

Thank you, Dr. Collins, for your work to improve human health, including the Human Genome Project and the “All of Us” Precision Medicine Biobank. And thank you all for making me feel so welcome.

NIH is known for its world-renowned trailblazing medical research. The closest thing I have to a medical credential is my role in What’s Up, Doc?

So I’m honored to have been invited to speak about my work for gender equity … Read more »

In an ovation-filled evening, Barbra Streisand received the Paley Media Center’s coveted Icon Tribute Award from that organization’s  CEO and President Maureen Reidy, culminating an evening of laughter and surprising revelations as television’s noted power producer and lifelong Streisand fan, Ryan Murphy, engaged in  a conversation of candor, truth, wit and charm with the star.

As the Los Angeles Times described the occasion (in a story headlined  Barbra Streisand opens the Annual Paley Fest on a high note,)  “Friday’s salute … Read more »

To clarity misinformation in a story issued by local Los Angeles television station, KABC, the nature of cloning occasionally results in the birth of a litter rather than a single animal. The cloning procedure in this case resulted in a litter of four beautiful puppies, three of which survived. The KABC story was inaccurate in it’s headline which stated that Ms. Streisand had had beloved Coton de Tuléar, Samantha, cloned twice. The fact is that in using the DNA of … Read more »

After putting out an article (on this website) about how fake news gets almost double the tweets than real news, I felt really sad. Why are people so drawn to insults and negativity? Why do fake stories sell more than true ones ? Is it human nature? It was disconcerting to see, in an article about me, how an anecdote about “the boys club” on a set gets turned into a vicious piece of nonsense. I was talking about a … Read more »

We are writing to you from The Pet Fund, the largest national nonprofit that pays for veterinary care for those who cannot afford it. After reading media sources report criticism regarding your recent successful dog cloning, we wanted to send our support for your decision for two reasons: first, cloning is an important aspect of cancer research, and second, the response to losing a pet is a process no one has the right … Read more »

When I do an interview, I like to be quoted accurately. I also expect the truth to be told, with facts checked.

This is why I’m reluctant to give interviews without having quote approval. In last week’s Variety article, they mistakenly made it sound like I didn’t want to be in Funny Girl! What??? I fought hard for that part! How could they make that mistake? I loved the character of Fanny Brice (they even misspelled her name Franny).… Read more »

There has been a lot of conversation lately about how the ability to identify with another person’s circumstance makes one unqualified to wear the judicial robe. Since President Obama’s nomination of Judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court, the word empathy has taken a beating. The other day, Dick Cheney came out in support of gay marriage, stating “freedom means freedom for everyone”aI guess Cheney finally allowed himself to share the empathy he felt for his daughter with the rest of … Read more »

Americans can’t take anything for granted on Tues November 4th.  In the 2000 and 2004 elections, voter fraud, voter suppression and voter intimidation were rampant, especially in the critical swing states Florida and Ohio. This year, we are likely to break voter turnout records.  Hundreds of thousands of voters have lined up to vote early around the country, and we have already heard numerous accounts of electronic voting machine glitches, registration and ballot issues and long lines.  The information posted … Read more »

I’m asking who is Sarah Palin???

  • I know that she’s a woman who doesn’t believe in allowing women the right to choose their own reproductive health decisions even if they are victims of rapeabut approves of these victims getting billed by the government for the rape kits used to examine them.
  • I know she’s a beauty pageant runner-up

Barbra Streisand gushed more than once that Monday’s concert at downtown Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena, the closing date of her 13-concert “The Music…The Mem’ries…The Magic! Tour,” was to be her last concert.

She never grandstanded the statement or milked it for melancholy. She said it with what sounded like gratitude — a theme she would return to often during the two-plus-hour, 26-song set. This was the longest show of the tour, which was fitting since … Read more »
