I am profoundly sorry for any pain or misunderstanding I caused by not choosing my words more carefully about Michael Jackson and his victims, because the words as printed do not reflect my true feelings. I didn’t mean to dismiss the trauma these boys experienced in any way. Like all survivors of sexual assault, they will have to carry this for the rest of their lives. I feel deep remorse and I hope that James and Wade know that I … Read more »

For those who are encouraged and inspired by my art, you make what I do worthwhile – – thank you, dearly. For those who tell me to “keep my mouth shut,” here is my response. It’s as true today as it was nearly 25 years ago when I spoke these words:
He was a good senator and a good man who never lost his sense of humor. He was unafraid to speak out against his own party and even helped me in the fight against women’s heart disease! He will be sorely missed.

Women are now proving they are powerful when they stick together and are unafraid to speak truth to power… unafraid to stand arm in arm with EVERY American and find a way forward together. Many of us were at the history-making march last year when Donald Trump was inaugurated, and we were hoping against hope that some good would come out of this Administration. Unfortunately, day-by-day, Trump has provided us – – both by his actions and … Read more »

Sooner or later in any administration, Casey Stengel comes to mind. The great Yankee manager, ending his career with the then-hapless New York Mets, looked down the dugout one dismal day in 1962 and asked, “Can’t anybody here play this game?” The answer for the Mets was no. It is the same now for the Trump administration.

– Observer.comIn a recent column, I explained how the still-forming Trump administration is already doing serious harm to America’s longstanding global intelligence partnerships. In particular, fears that the White House is too friendly to Moscow are causing close allies to curtail some of their espionage relationships with Washington—a development with grave implications for international security, particularly in … Read more »

With the President Trump Reality Show, it’s easy to be distracted by ANGRY ALL-CAPITAL TWEETS or Oval Office tantrums. But resist, and stay focused on matters of life and death.
Consider two critical issues: refugees and guns. Trump is going berserk over the former, but wants to ease rules on the latter. So let’s look at the relative risks.
In the four decades between 1975 and 2015, terrorists born in the seven

Fact-based journalism is a ridiculous, tautological phrase. It’s like talking about oxygen-based human life. There is no other kind. Facts are journalism’s foundation; the pursuit of them, without fear or favor, is its main objective.
But in this time of President Trump’s almost daily “fake news” accusations against The New York Times, and of his counselor Kellyanne Conway’s “alternative facts,” and of untruths seeping like a plague from the highest office in

All these Trumps are getting damned expensive.
Last month, taxpayers forked over nearly $100,000 to protect Eric Trump while he was on a business trip to Uruguay. And the Defense Department is looking to rent space in Trump Tower — which goes for as much as $1.5 million a year per floor — so they can bring the nuclear launch codes along when the president comes to visit his wife in

What will you do when terrorists attack, or U.S. friction with some foreign power turns into a military confrontation? I don’t mean in your personal life, where you should keep calm and carry on. I mean politically. Think about it carefully: The fate of the republic may depend on your answer.

Every day, the president’s behavior becomes more worrying. One day he demeans a federal judge who challenges him; the next day, without evidence, he accuses the media of hiding illegal voting or acts of terrorism. His lack of respect for institutions and truth pours out so fast, you start to forget how crazy this behavior is for any adult, let alone a president, and just how ugly things will get when … Read more »
It’s always upsetting when my words are taken out of context.
Here is the truth. When I started working on my 1976 movie, A Star is Born, I tried to get my friend Sydney Pollack to direct it. I hired Frank Pierson to rewrite the screenplay, but then he told me he wouldn’t do a second draft unless he also directed the film. And since Sydney was unavailable and we had to start shooting, I had to agree to … Read more »
I cloned Sammie once when she died… yet I keep hearing I cloned her two times. You can get a litter of puppies from one cloning… and that’s what we got. I also read that I cloned her in Korea… also untrue. It was in the USA. The cost was half of what they say!
I explained my reasons in this article which I feel I must share again.

To clarity misinformation in a story issued by local Los Angeles television station, KABC, the nature of cloning occasionally results in the birth of a litter rather than a single animal. The cloning procedure in this case resulted in a litter of four beautiful puppies, three of which survived. The KABC story was inaccurate in it’s headline which stated that Ms. Streisand had had beloved Coton de Tuléar, Samantha, cloned twice. The fact is that in using the DNA of … Read more »
After putting out an article (on this website) about how fake news gets almost double the tweets than real news, I felt really sad. Why are people so drawn to insults and negativity? Why do fake stories sell more than true ones ? Is it human nature? When I do an interview, I like to be quoted accurately. I also expect the truth to be told, with facts checked.
This is why I’m reluctant to give interviews without having quote approval. In last week’s Variety article, they mistakenly made it sound like I didn’t want to be in Funny Girl! What??? Larry Kramer does not need me to publicize his beautiful play. It stands on its own. For the last time – I will answer his complaints, which rewrite history.

Lady Liberty
Lift your lamp of hope a little higher
Burn that flame of freedom
Just a little brighter please
For all the world to see
And still believe
Oh, Lady Liberty
Show us how to stand and feel a little prouder
As the anthem plays let’s sing
And raise our voices even louder
Since the real danger lies in the sound of silence
Lady Liberty
I see you rise above the crashing waves
Bearing witness
