Two years ago this week, I was honored to invite our 41st President and First Lady to my first ever concert in Texas. They came to my dressing room before the show and we exchanged gifts. I’m glad he and Barbara are together again. RIP.… Read more »
It’s always upsetting when my words are taken out of context.
Here is the truth. When I started working on my 1976 movie, A Star is Born, I tried to get my friend Sydney Pollack to direct it. I hired Frank Pierson to rewrite the screenplay, but then he told me he wouldn’t do a second draft unless he also directed the film. And since Sydney was unavailable and we had to start shooting, I had to agree to … Read more »
I cloned Sammie once when she died… yet I keep hearing I cloned her two times. You can get a litter of puppies from one cloning… and that’s what we got. I also read that I cloned her in Korea… also untrue. It was in the USA. The cost was half of what they say!
I explained my reasons in this article which I feel I must share again.

LYRICS
By Desmond Child.
Lady Liberty
Lift your lamp of hope a little higher
Burn that flame of freedom
Just a little brighter please
For all the world to see
And still believe
Oh, Lady Liberty
Show us how to stand and feel a little prouder
As the anthem plays let’s sing
And raise our voices even louder
Since the real danger lies in the sound of silence
Lady Liberty
I see you rise above the crashing waves
Bearing witness

I would like to strongly recommend these two books by John Nichols:

The Iraq war has cost more in American lives and resources than the Bush Administration originally advertised. I recently read that we have now spent upwards of $340 billion dollars on this failed war, with much of the money going into the hands of private companies that were handpicked by this administration to rebuild Iraq with no bid contracts. Before the war, White House economic adviser Lawrence Lindsay estimated the cost of the war to be $100 to $200 billion … Read more »
Thank you all for raising your voices by coming out to vote. My faith in the American public has been restored. Harry Truman once said to the people “I wonder how many times you have to be hit on the head before you find out who’s hitting you.” Well, on November 7, 2006, the people finally found out. Our great country showed that it has the power to correct itself through the election process. Our votes changed the unequal and … Read more »
Bush has created chaos in Iraq and in our own country. The same person who called Kerry a flip-flopper committed the biggest flip-flop when he said he didn’t believe in nation building and then went on to invade Iraq. Where are the conservative principles he pledged to uphold. Bush is not a conservative. He’s just inept. He’s lost control of the federal budget through his wild deficit spending, allowed Iran and North Korea to expand their nuclear technology, placed inexperienced … Read more »
Here they go againafrustrated by plummeting approval ratings and the relentless scandals, the Republicans have a new ad coming out, just in time for next month’s election, that is determined to provoke fear and panic in American voters. As Herman Goering was quoted at the Nuremberg trials, “avoice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce … Read more »
Below is a link to a great article from The NY Times titled “Beyond Fossil Fuels” by Robert B. Semple Jr. The piece acknowledges that while stopping global warming is an overwhelming and daunting task, everyone has the power to make a difference by making simple, conscious decisions in their every day lives. The Streisand Foundation supports the non-profit group Earth Day Network, and they have compiled a list of a few easy ways you can conserve energy and help … Read more »
As I have been traveling through the country on my musical tour, I have been thinking about the upcoming election, which is less than a month away. So far, I have been in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and currently I am in Washington DC, the epicenter of political activity in our country. It has been a while since I communicated through a statement on my website, since I have been busy preparing for the tour. But I have been following … Read more »
I am so sick of talk show hosts who say things like “everyone thought that there were WMDs in Iraq at the time of the invasion.” That is just not true! And I am frustrated at Democrats for not refuting this claim more forcefully. On April 13, 2006, a moderator on CNN said that no one could have known there were no WMDs in Iraq before going to war. But we did know. There were people in high ranking positions … Read more »
Two years before 9/11, Presidential candidate George W. Bush was already privately talking about invading Iraq. Mickey Herskowitz, a long-time Bush family friend who worked with the candidate as a ghostwriter on his memoir, claimed Bush was obsessed with the notion and was simply just looking for justification to do so. Less than a year into his presidency, the warmongering Bush Administration was given the perfect rationale for waging a war: combating terrorism.
Immediately following the 9/11 attacks, Bush saw … Read more »
I was very impressed with General Tony Zinni’s (Ret.) interview on “Meet the Press” April 2, 2006. He spoke so clearly and compellingly about the poor judgments that were made by the Bush Administration before sending the country into war with Iraq. I have posted the transcript of his interview with Tim Russert below and encourage those that visit my site to read his book “The Battle for Peace.”
General Zinni, welcome to MEET THE PRESS.

To clarity misinformation in a story issued by local Los Angeles television station, KABC, the nature of cloning occasionally results in the birth of a litter rather than a single animal. The cloning procedure in this case resulted in a litter of four beautiful puppies, three of which survived. The KABC story was inaccurate in it’s headline which stated that Ms. Streisand had had beloved Coton de Tuléar, Samantha, cloned twice. The fact is that in using the DNA of … Read more »
After putting out an article (on this website) about how fake news gets almost double the tweets than real news, I felt really sad. Why are people so drawn to insults and negativity? Why do fake stories sell more than true ones ? Is it human nature? It was disconcerting to see, in an article about me, how an anecdote about “the boys club” on a set gets turned into a vicious piece of nonsense. I was talking about a … Read more »
When I do an interview, I like to be quoted accurately. I also expect the truth to be told, with facts checked.
This is why I’m reluctant to give interviews without having quote approval. In last week’s Variety article, they mistakenly made it sound like I didn’t want to be in Funny Girl! What??? I fought hard for that part! How could they make that mistake? I loved the character of Fanny Brice (they even misspelled her name Franny).… Read more »

Larry Kramer does not need me to publicize his beautiful play. It stands on its own. For the last time – I will answer his complaints, which rewrite history.
When I saw the play in 1985 I was very moved and immediately contacted Larry to acquire the rights. After going through several drafts with Larry, I hired another writer to develop a screenplay that was faithful to Larry’s play — but adapting it to make it more cinematic. It was … Read more »

To All of Barbra’s Fans,
Today we are celebrating a very special birthday for our beloved Barbra. As if being the best-selling female recording artist in history wasn’t enough, Barbra has also been passionately fighting for so many important causes throughout her life: women’s health and women’s equality, civil rights and voting rights, educational opportunity and the preservation of the planet. In 2014, Barbra co-founded the Women’s Heart Alliance (WHA) and together they are leading the movement to promote women’s … Read more »
