Over these past few weeks, I have been thinking a lot about the public’s disapproval of the democrats in Congress. Americans voted for change in the last election, but today most of the public falsely believe that democrats have only maintained the status quo. Americans aren’t aware that democrats in congress have actually held numerous votes on Iraq, the environment, children’s healthcare, the economy and other domestic concerns. They don’t realize that the reason there has been little progress on these important issues is due to the record number of republican filibusters and presidential vetoes stymieing our party from fulfilling its campaign promises from 2006.
AMERICANS STILL DON’T COMPREHEND THAT THE DEMOCRATS’ SLIGHT MAJORITY IN CONGRESS IS NOT ENOUGH TO OVERCOME THE REPUBLICAN BLOCKADE THAT STALLS CONGRESS FROM ENDING THE IRAQ WAR, BRINGING OUR TROOPS HOME AND PASSING MUCH NEEDED DOMESTIC SOCIAL POLICIES!
As we head into the November election, we can not allow for Congressional Democrats to be unfairly tainted in the eyes of the voting public. The Democratic leadership needs to challenge the current public perception that democrats aren’t delivering on their promisesawhenever the opportunity arises.
The entire Democratic caucus needs to come together on talking points in order to form a cohesive message; a message that communicates to every eligible voter in America that in order for real change to happen in this country, MORE DEMOCRATS NEED TO BE VOTED INTO OFFICE, STARTING WITH THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE.
We are now on the cusp of possibly seeing more progressive leaders in congress and in the White House. It’s such an exciting time for our country and the Democratic Partyaand I am hopeful that we can set the record straight, add to our numbers in the House and Senate and take back the White House in November!
